Kenton rallied to win the last two games after being down two sets to one against Ridgemont for a 25-14, 17-25, 20-25, 25-15, 15-12 victory in a non-league volleyball match on Tuesday. The Wildcats improve to 6-8 on the season, while Ridgemont is now 3-9.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — It took all five sets and a rally from being down 2-1, but in the end, the Upper Scioto Valley volleyball team came away with the non-conference win over Riverdale, 25-22, 13-25, 18-25, 25-16, 15-11 on Tuesday night.

The fish are starting to bite at the Saulisberry Park in Kenton with a few crappies and perch and bluegills being caught on minnows, and waxworms. The quarry was stocked with hybrid bluegill early this year and there will be some smallmouth bass and walleye put in during October.

MOUNT VICTORY — The village of Mount Victory will celebrate the fall season with its first Pumpkin Fest next month. The event is being sponsored by the MV Shopkeepers Group and is slated for Oct. 7 at the Henry Martin Park at the corner of Main and Taylor streets in the village.

The Ada volleyball team faced a Kenton team on Monday night that Bulldog coach Melissa Gossard noted is “much better than the typical” Wildcat team of past years. But while the scores may have been a little tighter, the Bulldogs still were able to come out on top in three games as they brushed aside the Wildcats 25-20, 25-13, 25-21 in the battle of Hardin County rivals.

The Ridgemont class of 1977 celebrated its 40-year class reunion on Saturday, Aug. 26 at the Moose Lodge in Kenton. The class of 1977 was the first kindergarten class when Ridgeway and Mount Victory Schools consolidated back in 1964.

Jon Cross of Kenton received endorsements from several area officials Saturday morning to kick off his fall campaign to become the 83rd District state representative. Before embarking on a bus tour of several communities in the district, the first-time political office seeker received the verbal backing of Hardin County Commissioners Brice Beaman and Roger Crowe, mayors Tom Seem of Forest and Mike Trout of Mount Victory, and Hardin County Sheriff Keith Everhart and Logan County Sheriff Randy Dodds.
