The Kenton Elks Lodge honored the Teenagers of the Month for February from each of the six area Hardin County schools at a luncheon earlier this month.

The Hardin County Homemakers will be hosting their annual Spring Achievement Day on April 4. It will be held at the Moose Lodge, 801 Lima St., Kenton starting with sign-in at 9 a.m.

COLUMBUS — In his second state wrestling tournament, Chase Sumner's first day was short. The Ada junior won his championship preliminary against Newark Catholic's Billy Luft by first-period pin Thursday at the Schottenstein Center at Ohio State University. A minute into the match, Sumner had the flexible Luft trapped in a cradle, and he rolled his opponent onto his shoulders for the pin in 1:10.

The Benjamin Logan FFA Agricultural Communications team featuring Taggert Beaty, Darby Eades, Kaylene Harpest and Emma Wenger finished 11th in the state in the State Agriculture Communications competition at Ohio State University.

The Hardin County Family YMCA is working to overcome misperceptions about its services as it strives to make the community better. “People do not understand the YMCA,” said Sean Galvin, executive director. “We’re known as a gym and swim.” That information was gathered as part of a strategic planning process coordinated last fall by the national YMCA.

Two Forest men were injured when their pickup truck was struck by a semi at the intersection of Ohio 81 and Ohio 53 in Patterson on Wednesday about 3:30 p.m.

Kenton Elementary School students have been honored with the monthly character award for March. It is based on students displaying attributes that include The 7 Habits as well as virtues such as Leadership, Integrity, Caring, Respect, Responsibility, Determination, Willpower, Trustworthiness, Fairness, Empathy, Citizenship, and Compassion. March’s virtue is Fairness. The Leader in Me Habit is Think Win-Win.

LEXINGTON — Riverdale’s fairy tale tournament run came to an end Wednesday night. After reeling off five straight wins to end the year, the underdog Falcons’ upset bid against Columbus Africentric fell short despite a back-and-forth first quarter. Jordan Hortson and an opportunistic Nubians’ defense took over, forcing 23 turnovers in an 85-46 victory in a Division III regional semifinal game at Lexington High School.

LEXINGTON — Not only did Riverdale’s surprise tournament run allow it to extend its season, it also made two broken records possible. Five tournament games were just enough for senior Sydney Holderman to become the Falcons’ career leading scorer, and it also allowed junior Lexie Wright to break the school single-season rebounding record.
