Ada Kiwanis Club President Tom Kier opened the weekly meeting of the club at noon on Jan. 24 in the Dean’s Heritage Room of McIntosh Center, Ohio Northern University in Ada. The following guests were welcomed and introduced to the membership: Robert Alexander, Ohio Northern University; Amy Eddings, Linda Ferguson and Megan Watson of The Ada Herald.

When motorists are stopped by deputies in Hardin County for traffic violations, the ticket they are handed soon will be created by a computer. The new E-tickets are expected to make the stop quicker for the public, more efficient for the courts and safer for the officers, said Sheriff Keith Everhart.

MOUNT VICTORY — Seventh-graders at Ridgemont offered their view of what a city in America might look like 100 years from now. The six students – Mason Stuck, Lane Underwood, Landon Newland, Ashtin Elliott, Lily James and Adaline Buckenroth – created a functioning city for the Future City Building competition held Jan. 14 at Columbus State Community College.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Riverdale Lady Falcons saw a 16-point third quarter lead disappear as McComb held them to just four points in the fourth, taking the 59-56 Blanchard Valley Conference girls basketball win over the host Falcons Thursday night.

DOLA — Holding a 15-10 halftime lead over Riverside, Hardin Northern coach Brady Mast wanted to see his girls assert themselves and take control of their basketball game at both ends of the floor in the second half on Thursday night.

ADA — Ada outscored Allen East in all four quarters, including by eight points in the third eight minutes, to pull away for a 59-44 victory in a Northwest Conference girls basketball game Thursday night. The Bulldogs led 13-9 after one quarter and 23-18 at halftime before putting some space between themselves and the Mustangs in the third quarter.

MOUNT VICTORY — Priscilla Howland had 25 points and 19 rebounds to lead Ridgemont to a 61-46 win over Perry in Northwest Central Conference girls basketball action Thursday night.

ALGER — The streets in Alger will be a mess for a few months, but representatives of Columbia Gas assured residents the inconveniences will not last long and will be worth the wait. Emily Kizer, external affairs specialist for Columbia Gas of Ohio, vowed the streets and lawns throughout the village will be restored to their original condition once the company replaces the aging mains and service lines in the village.

ADA — After reiterating his team’s goals for the game during halftime, Ohio Northern coach Rich Bensman’s Polar Bears came out firing a barrage of threes in the second half against Wilmington, hitting nine long-range buckets on their way to an 86-65 men’s basketball victory Wednesday night. The win keeps the Polar Bears tied with Marietta atop the Ohio Athletic Conference with a 9-2 mark. They are 11-7 overall. The Quakers drop to 2-9, 7-11.

Residents Richard Beach and Karla Foreman of Hardin Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center enjoy a fun day at the monthly birthday party at the Kenton facility with Activity Director Libby Wolgamot. Residents were served cupcakes and punch and entertained by Happy Daz Kareoke.
