Pam Thames has spent 35 years as a school bus driver and through that time has seen second generations of students she had before. For 31 years, Thames’ job was navigating the Riverdale School District roads, picking up students and dropping them off after school.

ADA — “Turning Compassion into Action” is the theme for the United Way of Hardin County 2017 campaign. El Campo Mexican Restaurant of Ada will be demonstrating its compassion into action with the United Way Dine Out program on Wednesday.

BELLEFONTAINE — The girls soccer contest between Riverdale and Ben Logan was a bit of a mixed bag for the Falcons. Riverdale did grab a 3-0 win, but coach Andrew Snook wanted his players to use the game as a tune-up for Wednesday’s key conference showdown against Liberty-Benton and that didn’t happen.

BELLEFONTAINE — With a 49-6 trouncing of Elgin on Friday night in non-conference football action, Benjamin Logan reached 3-0 on the season for the first time in over a decade. “We’ve got goals way beyond winning three games,” Raider coach Jeff Fay said. “It’s fun to be 3-0, it’s good to be 3-0 – we know it’s something that, in the past, has been rare. We’re trying to change the culture and make winning a tradition.”

NORTH BALTIMORE — North Baltimore found success through the air early and then used its running game and defense to finish off a 31-19 victory against Riverdale on Friday night. Brady Rader threw a pair of first-half touchdown passes during a stretch in which the Tigers scored 24-straight points to take control and give the Falcons (2-1) their first loss. Taylor Bishop scored a pair of rushing touchdowns.

The annual United Way of Hardin County’s football drop took place prior to the football game between Kenton and Wapakoneta Friday evening. All 1,000 tickets were sold and each of the nine winners will share the $1,000 prize with $111.11 going to each.

After Kenton’s boys soccer Western Buckeye League opener was delayed by a little more than an hour Thursday night due to the weather, it seemed to take the Wildcats nearly another hour to find their rhythm against Wapakoneta.

Shawnee blanked Kenton 5-0 in Western Buckeye League girls tennis Thursday. The closest match of the contest came at first singles where Shawnee’s Alotus Wei defeated Mykaela Schriber 6-1, 6-3.
