FINDLAY — Upper Scioto Valley’s Chase Rose finished first in the long jump to lead area competitors on the first day of Division III district competition at Findlay on Thursday.

PANDORA — Janessa Taylor had a triple and two singles to lead the way as Riverdale defeated Pandora-Gilboa 14-4 in a Blanchard Valley Conference softball game on Thursday.

DEFIANCE — After fouling on the first two of her three preliminary throws, Kenton discus specialist Lauren Johnson was hoping to land a a good throw to earn a spot in the finals on her last attempt of the prelims during Division II district competition at Defiance High School on Wednesday afternoon.

For the past four years, Ashley Morris was a leader for the Kenton girls basketball team both as a point guard and as the team’s top scorer. The Wildcat senior hopes to have a similar role during the next four years as a member of the Wilmington College basketball team.

Kenton was well-represented on the All-Western Buckeye League softball teams team which were released on Wednesday. Earning first-team honors for the Wildcats was third baseman Hanna Legge.

The Kenton High School football program will hold its annual football camp in three sessions from May 30 through June 7. Session I, for students entering grades 1-6, will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p .m. May 30-June 2; session II for students entering grades 9-12 will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 5; and Session III, for students entering grades 7 and 8, will be from 7 a.m. to noon June 6 and 7.

ARCADIA — Riverdale swept Arcadia 8-3 and 19-1 in a regular-season baseball doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon. Trailing game one, which was the continuation of a Blanchard Valley Conference game that started April 10, the Falcons scored twice in the top of the sixth and five more times in the seventh to secure the win.

WAPAKONETA — Ada softball coach Troy Erickson and his Bulldog players knew that Parkway was a very good hitting team going into Tuesday afternoon’s district semifinal contest with the Panthers. It didn’t take the Bulldogs long to find out just how good.

FOSTORIA — The Hardin Northern softball team has been making comebacks all season, and it looked like that would be the case again on Tuesday against top-seeded Columbus Grove in a district semifinal contest. After falling behind 3-0, the Polar Bears (16-9) brought the game to within one. But this time they were unable to complete the comeback, surrendering three runs in the fifth to fall 6-2 to the Bulldogs.

ADA — Ada junior Zach Beaschler has had one goal on his mind since qualifying for the Division II state tennis tournament last spring – making it back to the state tournament in Mason this spring. The Ada junior has the chance to reach that goal Thursday when he and teammate Cade Mullins compete in singles play at the Division II district tournament at Bowling Green State University.
