Youth wrestling: January 10, 2017

The Kenton youth wrestling team had eight kids finish in first place and nine more place second at the MVKWA wrestling meet at Bluffton this past Sunday. Wrestlers competed against teams from Ada, Allen East, Bluffton, Cory Rawson, Delphos, Elida, Lima City, Lima Bath, Lima Shawnee and Ottawa Glandorf.

Rams rally late to top Raiders

BELLEFONTAINE — Upper Scioto Valley came to life offensively at the right time and most of its opportunities at the free throw line as the Rams rallied from a six-point second-half deficit for a 51-45 victory over host Ben Logan on Saturday night.

Howland nets 21 as Gophers move to 9-4

MOUNT VICTORY — Priscilla Howland had 21 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead Ridgemont as the Gophers defeated Delaware Christian 59-35 Saturday to improve to 9-4 on the season. Jen Jordan added 12 points for Ridgemont, while Meadow Cromer pitched in with 7 points and Faith Jenkins had 6 points.

ONU upsets Marietta

ADA — Ohio Northern had five players score in double figures and shot 59 percent from the floor in a 101-91 victory over No. 13-ranked Marietta on Saturday afternoon at the ONU Sports Center. The Polar Bears (6-7 overall, 4-2 Ohio Athletic Conference) got 19 points each from seniors Devon Allen, Konnor Baker and Aron Thress.

Lady Polar Bears win

MARIETTA — Senior Britt Lauck tied her career-high with 21 points, leading No. 10-ranked Ohio Northern to a 79-65 Ohio Athletic Conference women's basketball victory at Marietta on Saturday. The Polar Bears remain undefeated at 13-0 overall and stay atop the OAC with a 6-0 league record, while the Pioneers fall to 7-6, 1-5.
