Layup in last second lifts ONU men to win

ADA — Sophomore Ryan Bruns' layup with one second remaining helped lift the Ohio Northern men's basketball team to a 93-91 victory over John Carroll Saturday afternoon at the ONU Sports Center. The Polar Bears improve to 4-4 overall and 3-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Blue Streaks fall to 3-5, 2-2.

Wildcats fall short against Defiance

For 31 minutes and 53 seconds, the Kenton basketball team was able to match Defiance point for point. And when Defiance point guard Michael Menendez split a pair of free throws with 7.2 seconds left on the game clock, the Wildcats had one chance to score the game-winning points.

Big 2nd half lifts IL past Raiders

BELLEFONTAINE — Indian Lake outscored Ben Logan by 20 points in the second half to rally from a halftime deficit for a 67-54 boys basketball win in Central Buckeye Conference play Friday night. The Raiders, who fall to 2-4 overall and 0-1 in CBC play, were paced by Cole Jones and Konnor Caudill, who tallied 13 points each.

Wilhelm scores 25 in HN win

DOLA — Zachary Wilhelm had 25 points and 11 rebounds to lead the way as Hardin Northern defeated Lehman Catholic 54-49 in a Northwest Central Conference boys basketball game Friday night. The Polar Bears, who improve to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in NWC play, also received 11 points from Logan Lease and 10 from Shawn Weirauch.

Waynesfield-Goshen rallies past Gophers

MOUNT VICTORY — A strong first half performance from Ridgemont gave the team a 34-30 halftime lead against Waynesfield-Goshen in boys basketball action Friday night. But the lead didn’t last as the Gophers were outscored 21-9 in the third quarter and were unable to mount a comeback, falling to the Tigers 68-63.

P-G shuts down Falcons

PANDORA — Riverdale was outscored 31-15 in the first half by Pandora-Gilboa and put up just 12 second-half points on its way to a 62-27 Blanchard Valley Conference loss in boys basketball action Friday night. The Falcons surrendered a 15-4 lead to the Rockets in the opening quarter.

Paulding rips Ada 78-46

ADA — Paulding pulled away for a 78-46 boys basketball win over Ada on Friday night. The Bulldogs, who fall to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the Northwest Conference, received 13 points and four assists from Jordan Bailey and 10 points from Ethan Swaney.
