CANTON – The Ohio Northern football team was selected to finish third in both the coaches poll and media poll at the 2016 Ohio Athletic Conference Football Media Day on Tuesday afternoon at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. ONU received 67 points and one first-place vote in the coaches poll to finish third and 244 points in the media poll to finish third.

ARLINGTON — Cole Dearing fired an 88 to lead the Kenton golf team as the Wildcats opened their 2016 season with an eighth-place finish among 12 teams in the Liberty-Benton Invitational on Friday at Sycamore Springs.

SPRINGFIELD — Ben Logan shot 388 on Friday at Windy Knoll in its first golf contest of the year, the Central Buckeye Conference preseason event.

Linda and Rodney Hensel are the winners of an Outstanding Beautification Award for June from Keep Hardin County Beautiful. The Hensels bought this property 35 years ago in 1980.

Dave Wedertz took the top spot in the Trophy Bassmasters recent tournament on the Detroit River in Michigan. Wedertz caught five bass, weighing 17.57 pounds, including the a 5.36-pound smallmouth that was the big bass of the day.
