Spradlin scores 1,000th point as USV defeats Hardin Northern

McGUFFEY — A night of celebration for the Upper Scioto Valley girls basketball team ended on a bit of a somber note Thursday night. The Rams’ Shelby Spradlin scored eight of the first 14 points, including her 1,000th career point, as USV took command of its contest with Hardin Northern during the early going.

Riverdale falls by one point in overtime

NORTH BALTIMORE — Riverdale was not overmatched or outplayed in a heavyweight Blanchard Valley Conference tilt at North Baltimore on Thursday. In the end, it was outdone. Timely shot-making helped the Tigers survive an overtime thriller at home, 66-65, to advance to 12-1 on the season (6-1 BVC).

Ada girls grab road win over DJ

DELPHOS — Ada pulled away from Delphos Jefferson in the third quarter Thursday night on its way to a 56-42 girls basketball victory. The Bulldogs (7-6, 3-2 Northwest Conference) led 21-17 at halftime and outscored Jefferson 17-10 in the third quarter to go ahead 38-27.

Gophers win by 12

LIMA — Ridgemont defeated Lima Temple Christian 45-33 in girls basketball action Thursday night. The Gophers (8-7) were led by Priscilla Howland’s double-double. Howland scored a team-high 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Hardin Northern wins in blowout

DOLA — Hardin Northern dominated Horizon Science Academy on Wednesday night in nonconference boys basketball action. The Polar Bears scored more points in three different quarters than Horizon did in the whole game on their way to a 102-24 victory.
