Good start pushes Falcons by Polar Bears

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale built a big early lead Friday night on its way to a 68-40 victory over Hardin Northern in the girls basketball opener for both teams. “It was a good first game,” Riverdale coach Maryann Holderman said.

Ashland ready to begin playoffs

ASHLAND — The Ashland University football team begins its quest for a national championship at home against Grand Valley State in an NCAA Division II Super Region 4 quarterfinal on Saturday at noon. Several local players are on the team. Tristan Reichelderfer and Austin Phillips, both of Kenton, are defensive ends for the Eagles.

ONU football gets at-large NCAA bid

ADA — The Ohio Northern football team received an at-large bid to the 2015 NCAA III Playoffs on Sunday. The Polar Bears travel to Franklin (Ind.) where they will be taking on the Grizzles in the first round of the Playoffs.
