LIMA — For the second straight year Kenton senior Claire Oates dominated the Western Buckeye League and won the first singles title at the WBL girls tennis tournament. “It feels great,” Oates said of repeating.

RAWSON — Ada won the Cory-Rawson Volleyball Invitational on Saturday. The Bulldogs (15-1) defeated Temple Christian 25-10, 25-8 and Miller City 25-13, 25-14 to reach the title game.

MARION — Ben Logan finished as the runner-up of the Elgin Volleyball Classic. The Raiders (8-8) defeated North Union 23-25, 25-16, 25-23 and then beat Elgin 25-20, 29-31, 25-21.

DOLA — Hardin Northern swept Kenton in nonconference volleyball action Saturday. The Polar Bears (10-6) won 25-13, 25-20, 25-11.

VAN WERT — Kenton placed eighth out of 10 teams Saturday in the girls portion of the Van Wert cross country Invitational. Jenna Gibson finished 21st out of 96 runners to lead the Wildcats.

HARROD — Kenton won the Allen East Invite on Saturday in boys golf action. The Wildcats shot 315 to beat Bath by 10 strokes to win the 16-team tournament.

BOTKINS — Riverdale allowed one shot in a non-league girls soccer match at Botkins on Saturday and got back in the win column with a 3-0 shutout. Gabi Rodriguez, Reygan Frey and Aubreah Manns scored for the Falcons (8-2), with Sydney Holderman, Taylor Frey and Kelsay Martin assisting.

Upcoming events at Memorial Park Golf Course are: Oct. 12 the Postal Outing and Oct. 17 the Ron Barker Benefit outing. Sign-up sheets are posted for both events at the course.

VAN WERT — It was a perfect night for one football team at Van Wert's Eggers Stadium on Friday night. Unfortunately for Kenton fans it came at the Wildcats’ expense as the host Cougars controlled every aspect of the game in scoring 31 first-half points on the way to a 38-0 Western Buckeye League victory.

ADA — Ada forced eight turnovers and made a game-changing goal line stand late in the third quarter to help propel the hometown Bulldogs to a 19-7 victory over Columbus Grove in a gritty Northwest Conference clash Friday night. The Bulldogs end a modest two-game losing streak and improve to 3-2 for the season and 1-2 in the conference.
