Wildcats head on road to face Cougars

After suffering setbacks in three of its first four games — including back-to back-losses to Western Buckeye League foes Wapakoneta and St. Marys — the young Kenton football is looking to pick up some momentum as it heads into the second half of the season. The Wildcats travel to Van Wert on Friday to square off against the 2-2 Cougars.

USV’s Hipsher wins NWCC golf tourney

LIMA — Wednesday was a good day for Hardin County golfers at the Northwest Central Conference tournament held at Hidden Creek Golf Course. Upper Scioto Valley’s Brady Hipsher shot 77 to earn medalist honors and lead the Rams to a second-place finish at the tournament.

C-R scores two in second half to beat Ada

ADA — Ada girls soccer goalkeeper Rielyn Castle made 15 saves Wednesday night and the Bulldogs kept Cory-Rawson off the scoreboard in the first half. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, Cory-Rawson scored a pair of second-half goals to grab a 2-0 win.

Falcons fall to Elida

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Hope Carter scored twice and assisted on the other goal as Elida defeated Riverdale 3-0 in a non-conference girls soccer match Wednesday. Jency Jenkins scored the other goal for the Bulldogs (5-2-3).

Raiders topped at home

BELLEFONTAINE — Tippecanoe scored one goal in each half Wednesday night to defeat Ben Logan 2-0 in Central Buckeye Conference girls soccer. The Raiders are scheduled to travel to Urbana next Monday.

L-B bests Falcons

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale took the second set but lost in Blanchard Valley Conference play for the first time this season, dropping a four-set volleyball match against Liberty Benton on Wednesday, 25-21, 20-25, 25-18, 25-23.

USV golf beats R’dale

ARLINGTON — Riverdale fired one of its best rounds of the season but fell 190-215 to Upper Scioto Valley on Monday at Sycamore Springs. Upper Scioto Valley’s Corey Wolford was medalist wtih a 45.

Wildcats blow out New Knoxville, 7-0

Kenton scored five goals in the first 21 minutes Tuesday night in a dominant 7-0 victory over New Knoxville in nonconference boys soccer action. Hayden Hicks opened the scoring five minutes into the game off an assist from Landon Bartlett.

McGUFFEY — Under first-year volleyball coach Morgan Rogers, the Kenton volleyball team has continued to improve throughout the season. Upper Scioto Valley has gotten better under its first-year coach, too, and the Ben Kretz-led Rams proved to be too much for the Wildcats in Hardin County volleyball action Tuesday.
