DEFIANCE — Kenton dropped its Western Buckeye League baseball opener Friday 10-1 to Defiance.

DOLA — Hardin Northern swept Ridgemont in boys and girls track Thursday. The Polar Bear girls edged Ridgemont 57-55. The Hardin Northern boys defeated the Gophers 68-37.

Kenton dropped its first tennis match of the season Wednesday afternoon.

CELINA — Celina ran away from Kenton in a dual track meet on Tuesday night.

Ben Logan senior Hailey Thomas (center, front row) has accepted a financial award to join the cheerleading program at Ashland University.

BELLEFONTAINE — The Upper Scioto Valley boys track team was second in a tri-meet with Bellefontaine and Waynesfield-Goshen on Tuesday afternoon. Bellefontaine won the meet with 79 points, followed by USV with 63 and Waynesfield-Goshen with 31.

DOLA — The Hardin Northern girls tied for second, while the Polar Bear boys were fourth in a quad meet with Van Buren, Arlington and Cory-Rawson on Tuesday.

The Kenton baseball team found its offense when it needed to on Monday afternoon, scoring five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to gain the upperhand on Allen East. And with the game on the line in the seventh inning, the Wildcats turned to their ace Tristan Reichelderfer to close out the Mustangs as they held on for a 5-4 victory in the non-conference game.

LIMA — The Upper Scioto Valley softball team had to wait awhile to get in its first game this spring.
