Bassmasters far well on Detroit River

The Trophy Bassmasters of Kenton traveled to one of their favorite destinations as the tournament site was the Detroit River out of Trenton. Mich. Much like Lake St Clair earlier in the season, the Detroit Diver has big smallmouth bass and numbers as well. As an extra bonus big largemouth are also plentiful.

Polar Bears get past C-R in five games

RAWSON — Hardin Northern topped Cory-Rawson in five sets 25-14, 24-26, 25-22, 26-28, 15-12 in a Division IV sectional opener on Tuesday night. The No. 10 seeded Polar Bears, who improve to 10-12 on the season, advance to play No. 2 seeded New Knoxville in the sectional final at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at New Knoxville.

Raiders outlast KR

NEW CARLISLE — Ben Logan outlasted Kenton Ridge in five sets 25-21, 24-26, 31-29, 22-25, and 15-11 in the first round of Division II southwest district sectional volleyball play on Tuesday night at Tecumseh High School. The Raiders, who improve to 17-6 on the season, were paced by Molly Vance’s 21 kills.

25 take part in the Jack-o’lantern Glow 5K

Todd Oates finished first out of 25 runners that took part in the Hardin County Family YMCA’s jack-o’-lantern Glow 5K run during the Young Professional’s Little Pumpkin Fest on Saturday night in Kenton. Oates had a winning time of 21:36, which was over two minutes faster than the second place time of 24:02 by Greg Homan. Tommy Mustain was third in 25:38.

Kenton, Hardin Northern remain among top eight in their regions

Kenton and Hardin Northern remain the only two area schools among the top eight teams in their region in the latest Ohio High School Athletic Association computer rankings released on Tuesday. The Wildcats are currently ranked sixth in Division IV Region 16, while Hardin Northern is sitting at No. 5 in Division VII Region 28. Both teams are 5-2 entering the final three weeks of the regular season.

ROUNDHEAD — Upper Scioto Valley’s Zach Britton was second of 46 runners and Joe Parker was third to lead the way for the host Rams at the Northwest Central Conference Cross Country Meet at the Putnam Wetlands on Saturday. Britton finished in a time of 18:33, which was 1:21 slower than first place finisher Brady Yingst of Perry (17:12). Parker was third in 18:36.

Lady Raiders finish 7th in the state

COLUMBUS —The Ben Logan girls golf team carded a 360 on day two of the Division II state golf tournament at the Ohio State University Gray Course to finish seventh of 12 teams in the tournament. Mailiis Simovart led the way for the Raiders on Saturday with an 84. Combined with her round of 81 on Friday, she finished 21st overall in the tournament.

Krohmer 4th at WBL X-country

DEFIANCE — Kiki Krohmer was fourth of 89 runners to lead the Kenton girls cross country team to a sixth place finish at the Western Buckeye League meet at Defiance High School on Saturday. Krohmer finished in a time of 19:54.7 to pace the Wildcats.
