The Ben Logan varsity competition cheerleading team placed first in its division and won the grand champion overall trophy at the Ohio Northern University cheer competition on Sunday.

BLUFFTON — Bluffton defeated Kenton 54-47 in overtime in a non-conference boys basketball game on Saturday night. Luke Denecker scored 8 of his 17 points in overtime for the host Pirates.

NORTH BALTIMORE — North Baltimore edged Upper Scioto Valley 61-58 in a non-conference boys basketball game Saturday night. The Rams, who have lost five straight games, trailed 10-9 after one quarter and 28-26 at halftime before being outscored 33-32 in the second half.

DOLA — After a slow start, Cory-Rawson came alive in the second quarter before taking control in the second half on the way to a 72-49 boys basketball victory over Hardin Northern on Saturday.

ADA — Lima Temple Christian took control early on the way to a 63-39 non-conference boys basketball victory over Ada on Saturday night. The Pioneers led 14-7 after eight minutes ad 31-16 at halftime before putting the game away with a 19-13 advantage in the third eight minutes.

Aiden Loveridge and Ethan Hayes won championships in their weight classes to lead Riverdale to a fourth place finish in the team standings at the Blanchard Valley Conference wrestling tournament on Saturday.

ADA — The Ohio Northern men's basketball team will be the No. 3 seed in this week’s Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament after dropping a 100-85 decision at No. 9 Marietta on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman Klava Katayama finished second in the 100 yard freestyle at the Division II district meet to become the first girl in Ada High School history to qualify for the high school state swimming championships. Katayama touched in a time of 53.66 seconds to finish behind Bryan’s Ashleigh Franks, who finished in 52.00 seconds.

Friday was a celebratory night at the Kenton High School gymnasium as the 50th anniversary of the 1967 WBL championship team was commemorated at halftime of the Wildcats game against Bath. And the current Kenton Wildcats wanted to do their part to keep things festive.
