A group of Hardin County leaders stand behind State Rep. Robert Cole Sprague in support of his opposition to the marijuana legalization issue on the November general election ballot.

Several contested seats in Hardin County will be decided this fall in the general election. The deadline for filing non-partisan petitions to run in November was Wednesday at 4 p.m.

There are several openings for mayors, council members, board of education members, trustees and fiscal officers throughout Hardin County, but few taking steps to fill those spots in the fall election.

Another candidate will try the write-in route in the race for Kenton mayor in the November general election. Joe Hord, a former city councilman who last served in the 1980s, filed his candidacy with the Hardin County Board of Elections.

The one-vote victory of Kenton Mayor Randy Manns in the May 5 Republican primary was confirmed in a recount conducted Wednesday by the Hardin County Board of Elections.

By the narrowest of margins, Kenton Mayor Randy Manns appears to be on the way to another four years in office. Manns received two of the three provisional votes tabulated Wednes-day afternoon by the Hardin County Board of Elections to claim a 207-206 victory in the Republican primary over challenger Councilman Tom Taylor.

It will be an anxious next two weeks for Kenton mayoral candidates Randy Manns and Tom Taylor. After the votes were tallied in Tuesday’s Republican primary, Manns and Taylor were tied with 205 votes each.

RIDGEWAY — Ridgemont School District voters agreed to renew the district’s .75 percent income tax at Tuesday’s special election. The combined vote from Hardin and Logan counties showed 259 in support of the issue and 224 opposed.

RIDGEWAY — Voters are being asked to provide “stability” to the Ridgemont School District’s financial outlook and renew a .75 percent income tax during Tuesday’s special election. First approved in 2010, the five-year renewal request is projected to generate $436,000 annually.

Four precincts will be open in Kenton and another four in the Ridgemont School District for Tuesday’s primary/special election.
