The winners of the 2018 Hardin County Fair Junior Fair swine show and Junior Fair horse show were announced on Tuesday.

The first Dish Day at the Hardin County Fair featured fruit crisp entries on Tuesday. The top prize went to (from left) Roberta Whitmer's caramel pecan apple crisp.

Mara France of Ridgemont and Chase Fleece of Kenton were crowned the 2018 Hardin County Fair queen and king Tuesday evening in front of a large crowd at the grandstand.

World War II veteran Lester Johns leads the veterans who attended Tuesday’s opening ceremony of the Hardin County Fair in a salute to the flag as the national anthem was played. Area vets were admitted free during the first day of the fair.

The Hardin County Fair got off to a hot start Tuesday with temperatures in the 90s. The heat may have held down the crowd a bit as the estimated total attendance was 6,961 with a paid gate of 1,243.
