MOUNT BLANCHARD — Liberty-Benton took advantage of seven Riverdale errors to plate 12 unearned runs, including 10 in the first inning, on the way to a 16-2 Blanchard Valley Conference baseball win over the Falcons on Wednesday.

DOLA — Ridgemont jumped on top of Hardin Northern with nine runs in the first inning and didn’t let up on the way to a 28-2 victory over the Polar Bears in a Northwest Central Conference baseball game on Tuesday. The Gophers added seven runs in both the second and third innings and five in the third.

DOLA — Hardin Northern used a seven-run second inning to take control on the way to a 13-3 six-inning win over Ridgemont in Northwest Central Conference softball action on Tuesday. Haylei Pees had four hits and three RBIs, Madison Robson had two hits with a double and three RBIs and Quinn Stewart-Evans contributed two singles and three RBIs to lead the Polar Bear hitting attack.

BELLE CENTER — The BMRT Ambulance District has purchased a new ambulance unit and equipment in recent months. The district serves McDonald and Taylor Creek townships in Hardin County and Belle Center and Richland Township in Logan County.

With daffodils blooming, a snow attempted to cover them again Monday. The cold winds and snow flurries have kept the county within winter’s grasp well into April, but the forecast gives hope of warmer days ahead.

RIDGEWAY — Host Ridgemont ran away with the girls team title in the five-team Antique Alley Invitational track and field meet on Saturday. The Gophers won four events and were second in nine events on the way to tallying 155 points.

BELLEFONTAINE — When Ohio Hi-Point Career Center’s campus was constructed in Bellefontaine 43 years ago, vocational education was a new educational concept in Ohio. Since it opened its schools to students, the need for trained engineering, graphic artist and cosmetology students has persisted, but today there are demands for jobs which didn’t exist in 1974, Superintendent Rick Smith said.
