ADA — The second amendment to the U.S. Constitution is as old as the nation itself, but the idea the document guarantees all citizens the right to own any type of firearm they wish is a new concept in the country, according to a nationally recognized legal historian.

BELLEFONTAINE – The Ohio Hi-Point Career Center unveiled the new Dr. Sloan Smart Technology Center to community members, business, industry, and educational partners as well as local and state politicians Wednesday evening.

It had been 10 days since the Kenton softball team played a game, but Jenna Clum and her Kenton teammates showed no rust at the plate as the Wildcats scored 10 runs in the first two innings on the way to a 14-4 victory over Upper Scioto Valley on Thursday.

The Kenton Elks Lodge honored Teenagers of the Month for March from throughout Hardin County during a luncheon Wednesday at the lodge. There were no teens nominated from Hardin Northern.

It didn’t take the Hardin County Common Pleas Court jury long to come up with a decision in the case against Gerrick Anthony “Tony” Sheldon on Tuesday. After deliberating for 2 1/2 hours, the jury returned a guilty verdict on 10 of the 11 counts against Sheldon, who was accused of recruiting his then 15-year-old son for a plot to kill his estranged wife and her son by burning their house down.

The Hardin Northern High School auditorium will come alive with ‘The Sound of Music,” which will be presented Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

Outstanding senior scholars from four Hardin County high schools were recognized Tuesday night with the Franklin B. Walter Scholastic Award in a program at Kenton Elementary School.

Kenton Elementary School students on Tuesday presented a check for $1,210.50 to Not By Choice Outreach, a local organization that provides assistance to cancer victims and their families.

The third grade Kenton Wildcat girls basketball team recently finished its season undefeated and won the championship of the Northwest Ohio Youth Basketball League.
