ADA — After leading since the early minutes of the first half, the Ohio Northern men’s basketball team found itself down against Heidelberg. Trailing 81-80 after a driving basket by senior Nate Burger, Northern took a time out with 34 seconds to go.

BELLEFONTAINE — With their court-time limited over the past week because of inclement weather, the Ben Logan girls were a bit sluggish on the offensive end of the floor during Wednesday’s CBC contest against rival Bellefontaine.

A Kenton man was killed Tuesday night in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 68, about four miles north of Kenton. The victim, Joseph Wayne Hoey, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a release from the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office.

ADA – As the NFL playoffs continue, Ada will again have its own Super Bowl extravaganza. The second annual “Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival” on Feb. 3 will celebrate the village’s connection to the biggest football game of the year.

The Marion Harding girls basketball team came into its game against Kenton on Tuesday night with just four wins in 13 games and on a five-game losing streak. While on paper it may have looked to be an easy game for Kenton, it did not prove to be that way on the court as the visiting Prexies stayed within three points into the fourth quarter before the Lady Wildcats were able to pull away late for a 58-49 victory.

The weather canceled a march honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Kenton, but those who attended the program at St. John’s Evangelical Church dedicated themselves to reducing racism and hatred to keep King’s dream alive.

A vehicle slid off the snow-covered Ohio 31, just south of Mount Victory, and crashed into an electrical pole owned by American Electrical Power on Monday afternoon. According to a report from the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, Hugo Galindez-Lopez, of Kanawh, W.Va., was driving the rented vehicle.

Though originally from Oxford in southwestern Ohio, Rev. Vanessa Cummings spent time in Kenton as a child, traveling with her father Virgil, a pastor who supervised the district. Now a pastor herself, Vanessa returned to Kenton just over four years ago to serve at Payne Chapel African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church and was reunited with those with whom she grew up.
