DEFIANCE — After fouling on the first two of her three preliminary throws, Kenton discus specialist Lauren Johnson was hoping to land a a good throw to earn a spot in the finals on her last attempt of the prelims during Division II district competition at Defiance High School on Wednesday afternoon.

For the past four years, Ashley Morris was a leader for the Kenton girls basketball team both as a point guard and as the team’s top scorer. The Wildcat senior hopes to have a similar role during the next four years as a member of the Wilmington College basketball team.

WAPAKONETA — Ada softball coach Troy Erickson and his Bulldog players knew that Parkway was a very good hitting team going into Tuesday afternoon’s district semifinal contest with the Panthers. It didn’t take the Bulldogs long to find out just how good.

BELLEFONTAINE — As the Benjamin Logan Board of Education meeting opened to a packed room Monday evening, members heard presentations from students working to address drug abuse and teen suicide issues in the district.

McGUFFEY — The six new Hardin County Sports Hall of Fame inductees expressed their gratitude to those who supported them throughout their athletic journeys during an induction ceremony on Saturday night at Upper Scioto Valley High School.

MOUNT VICTORY — While growing up, Ryan Bugg often found himself in the role of treasurer in his youth clubs. Bugg’s mother worked at the Richwood Banking Company in an account representative/secretary–type role, so as a child, he grew up around banks.

Area residents are invited to become part of a community garden project in Kenton. The garden, located in the 700 block of South Wayne Street, is part of Table One Ministries and is being directed by Tricia and Cory Templeton.
