Last Saturday, a trash fire spread to and destroyed a barn at the Buck Township home of Fannie Yoder. By Monday morning, a large group of volunteers from the Amish community spent the day removing the charred debris from the site and the following day, set out to rebuild the structure.

Members of the Salvation Army board will be conducting their regular meetings every other month at restaurants in the county. The change of location will allow the board an opportunity to discuss the needs of the local community, said member Robin Oates.

Firefighters battled the flames and the heat during a barn fire Saturday morning at 16449 Ohio 31, south of Kenton. The family told firefighters they were burning trash when the wind caused the fire to get away from them and travel to the structure.
