MOUNT BLANCHARD — A refurbished rocking chair full of memories sparked tears of love in a Riverdale Elementary classroom Friday and then continued to deliver Christmas spirit through social media. Retired teacher RuthAnn Poling presented Riverdale first grade teacher Andrea Brooks with the restored rocker which had been a staple in her classroom at Ridgemont when Brooks was a student there.

Once a year a line of police cruisers with red lights flashing, parades from the Jacob Parrott Safety Center in Kenton to Walmart with the faces of the children inside beaming just as brightly. In the four years since the Shop with a Cop program began in the county, it has become one of the Hardin County Sheriff Office’s most popular events.
