ODOT announces schedule for week The following highway construction is scheduled to occur within Hardin County. Work is dependent upon weather conditions, and unless otherwise noted, it will take place during daytime hours. State Route 31 between the city of Kenton and the Union County line will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for a chip seal project. Armed robberies send Ada man to prison An Ada man was sent to prison for nine years after he robbed three men in separate incidents at gunpoint and plead guilty to it in court. According to court records from Prosecutor Brad Bailey's office, Dakari Tyreese Powell, 537 E. Lincoln St., Ada, had called another man and asked if the man had "weed." When he arrived at the victim's home, Powell placed a handgun against the man's forehead and made threats while he demanded money. The robbery netted Powell $40 and he went to two other friends and made the same demands, bringing in another $50, a bag of "weed" and an iPhone. Read More

Ada board approves pay increase for teachers staff ADA — Teachers in the Ada School District are set to receive an increase on thier base salary each year for the next three years, but will be picking up more of their insurance costs over that period. At a special meeting on Wednesday, the Ada School Board approved a negotiated three-year contract with the Ada Education Association. It will be effective from July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2022. Police reports: May 30, 2019 Officers responded to the 600 block of Robinson Avenue for a report of a neighbor dispute. During a call for a noise complaint in the 500 block of W. North Street, one person observed was Cassandra Joan McDowell, 322 W. Railroad St. Her information was run through dispatch and a warrant was confirmed out of the KPD. McDowell was taken into custody and transported to the Multi-County Jail in Marion. Read More
