In May, 25,000 people are expected to visit the American War Cemetery and Memorial in Margraten in the Netherlands. It is the last resting place for 8,301 Allied soldiers, including a Hardin County man, who gave their lives to liberate Europe from the Nazis during World War II.

MOUNT VICTORY — The Southeast Hardin Northwest Union Fire District is going into the ambulance service business. Its board has agreed to purchase an ambulance unit from the Richwood EMS and to train most of the firefighters who are currently responding to runs through the firehouse in Mount Victory.

Melissa M. Herzog, 17565 CR 209, Mount Victory, was southbound on N. Main St., approaching the intersection of Eliza Street, while Enrique Mendez, 410 Vine St., was stopped at the stop sign on Eliza St. facing east. Mendez pulled from the stop sign and failed to yield to Herzog, striking the vehicle. He was cited for failure to yield at a stop sign.

MOUNT VICTORY — For a small fee, residents of Mount Victory will be permitted to bring car and truck tires to this year’s village clean-up day. Councilwoman Kelly Skaggs reported to council that Dudley Township’s clean-up day takes in tires, and they are taken to the Hardin County transfer station by the village.
