McGUFFEY — The McGuffey council addressed financing issues for the improvements to its sewer plant Monday evening. Members heard a report from Roberta A’Costa from the Rural Community Assistance Program in which she outlined the funding for the planning phase of the $1 million project.

Jack A. Shirk, 142 Brumm St., reported that he was the victim of identity fraud. A report was received of a Yorkie running loose in the area of North and Cherry streets.

The Hardin County Engineer’s Office announced it will be closing County Road 200 between Dudley Township Road 217 and County Road 219 for five to eight weeks for bridge replacement.

The body of a Belle Center woman missing for more than two weeks was located Saturday evening. According to Hardin County Sheriff Keith Everhart, his office received information which led to the discovery of the body of Toni Schorr in an area which had previously been searched by investigators.

While the animals are what veterinarian Dr. Earnie Kearns works with on a daily basis, he takes the most pleasure in working with the people who take care of those animals. Kearns has been with Diamond M Veterinary Clinic in Kenton for nearly 17 years.

Sarah Thomas was crowned 2016 Hardin County Pork Industry Queen at the organization’s banquet Saturday night in Kenton. She also served as the 2015 queen.
