MARION — As the Marion Palace Theatre’s $1.8 million ‘Re-Light the Palace Marquee’ project nears completion, the theater’s staff and board of directors are busy preparing for a day of celebration.

McGUFFEY — Area educators and business leaders met Tuesday morning at Upper Scioto Valley Schools to discuss how best to establish a program which will ready high school students to enter the manufacturing world. Administrators from USV, Indian Lake and Fairlawn were joined by representatives from Honda Transmissions, Rhodes State College and the Midwest Regional Educational Service Center to brainstorm ideas for the program.

Hardin County’s unemployment rate climbed to 5.2 percent in January, according to figures released Tuesday by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. In December, the county’s unemployment rate was 4.2 percent.

RIDGEWAY — The village of Ridgeway will join forces with Bokescreek Township in Logan County to secure funding for a new fire truck for the Ridgeway Fire Department. Chief Jim Newland updated council on the plans at its monthly meeting Tuesday evening.

DOLA — Awakened Commotion, Hardin Northern High School's pop a cappella singing group, will present a night of a cappella singing on Friday, March 11 at 7 p.m., in the school's auditorium.

Area residents are invited to register for severe weather spotter training, set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 15 at the Jacob Parrott Safety Center, 1025 S. Main St., Kenton. The training will be conducted by a representative from the NOAA National Weather Service in Wilmington, and hosted by the Hardin County Emergency Management Agency.
