Kenton Police Chief Dennis Musser recognizes Lou Ann Seiler (center), who is retiring after 15 years as a dispatcher for the department. She was saluted for her service at Monday’s Kenton City Council meeting. A celebration in her honor is set for 7:30 p.m.Wednesday at Skinny’s in Kenton and all interested are invited to attend.

ROUNDHEAD — Upper Scioto Valley’s Zach Britton was second of 46 runners and Joe Parker was third to lead the way for the host Rams at the Northwest Central Conference Cross Country Meet at the Putnam Wetlands on Saturday. Britton finished in a time of 18:33, which was 1:21 slower than first place finisher Brady Yingst of Perry (17:12). Parker was third in 18:36.

Lady Raiders finish 7th in the state

COLUMBUS —The Ben Logan girls golf team carded a 360 on day two of the Division II state golf tournament at the Ohio State University Gray Course to finish seventh of 12 teams in the tournament. Mailiis Simovart led the way for the Raiders on Saturday with an 84. Combined with her round of 81 on Friday, she finished 21st overall in the tournament.

Nikolas Aries, 8, brushes the fur of a rabbit at the petting zoo at Saturday's Little Pumpkin Fest on the square in Kenton. Blue skies and brisk temperatures brought a large crowd out for the event sponsored by the Hardin County Young Professionals. Nikolas is the son of Ashlee Arias and Ryan Shields.

Participants in the Kiddie Fun Run during the Little Pumpkin Fest in Kenton prepare to compete in the YMCA's portion of the event on Saturday. The young runners raced around the courthouse for one meter (three laps). Later, adult runners raced in a 5-K race at the festival.

The sidewalks of S. Detroit Street were crowded with people cheering on a trailer-load of pumpkins during the pumpkin drop at Saturday's Little Pumpkin Fest. The pumpkins raced down the hill with the winner of the squash scramble getting $250.

One of the popular attractions for the smaller children at the Little Pumpkin Fest was the large fun house. There were games, face-painting, balloon animals and several other activities for young people and food, vendors and music for the adults in the large crowd.

General James Robinson and his wife, Hester, (aka David Faulkner and Delores Crawford) meet visitors to Grove Cemetery on Saturday during the Walk Through the Tombstones tour. About 80 people took part on the program which shared the histories of seven people buried at the cemetery and relayed their part in the community.
