OSTRANDER — Freshman Sydney Wesson earned Central Buckeye Conference player of the year honors to lead the Ben Logan girls golf team to first place at the CBC tournament on Wednesday at the Ridge Golf and Gardens. It is the second year in a row the Raiders have won the tournament.

Mt. Zion United Methodist church held a celebration on Sunday honoring three women who have devoted decades to serving the church. They are (from) Kate Shick, Lois Stout and Esther Duprey.

The Kenton Elks hosted its annual Promise Grant event at the Kenton Middle School on Saturday, Sept. 14 for any student ages 8 through 14 and their parents or caregivers. The Elks worked with Kirk Cameron, KMS principal, and John Folk and Tracy Wright of Hardin County Jobs and Family Services.

Lima Senior defeated Kenton 26-24, 25-20, 25-22 in a non-league volleyball match on Tuesday night. Leading the way for the Lady Wildcats was Jenna Manns with 11 digs and 7 kills. Lindsey Smith added 8 kills and 3 aces.

Ridgemont’s Nikki Freshcorn and Jennifer Jordan attempt to block the spike of a Lehman Catholic player during the Gophers 25-3, 25-8, 25-15 loss to the Cavaliers on Tuesday night. The Gophers drop to 1-5 on the season. Statistics were not received from the match.

Homecoming will be celebrated this week at Kenton High School with a variety of festivities leading up to the football game against Defiance on Friday at 7 p.m. at Robinson Field. A bonfire will take place Thursday evening at 8 p.m. in the athletic building parking lot.

On Sept. 13 the Hardin Northern student body and many guests gathered in the varsity gym to recognize students that did an outstanding job in the classroom during the 2018-29 school year. Academic letters and pins were awarded to students with 3.0 GPAs or higher for the year.
