CELINA — Friday night’s game at Celina started out in a fashion very similar to the Kenton’s trip two years ago to face the Bulldogs on the road as the Wildcats threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale was shut out in the first half of Friday night’s Blanchard Valley Conference football game at home against McComb. They found the end zone once in the second half but gave up two more scores, falling 42-6.

The Alger Fire Department was dispatched to a burning house just to the east of the village limits on Township Road 92 on Thursday. No information was available at press time on the owner of the house or the cause of the fire.

Hannah Holland scored the game-winning goal with 29 seconds left in the game to lift Kenton to a 4-3 win over Wapakoneta in Western Buckeye League girls soccer action on Thursday. The goal came on a rush from the right flank in which Holland got past a Wapakoneta defender and snuck the ball past a diving Wapakoneta keeper before putting the ball into the empty met.

The Kenton Senior High School class of 1969 celebrated its 50-year class reunion over the weekend of Aug. 16, 17 and 18. The reunion began on Friday with a golf scramble that was followed by a potluck dinner at the clubhouse provided by the reunion committee with a blessing by Fritz Pfister.
