Young people who took part in the Ridgemont Public Library's Summer Reading Program were treated to a ride on the Romick Railways train during Saturday's Touch A Truck event in Ridgeway.

Winners of the Kiddie Tractor Pull at the Ada Farmers and Merchants Picnic were announced on Saturday.

For Sam Albert, serving on the Kenton Board of Education is all about making a difference in his community. Sam was elected to the board last November and began serving his term in January.

PST Akomaye Ugar, pastor of the Honey Streams Christian Center in Calabar, Nigeria, paid a visit to the office of Kenton mayor Randy Manns this week. Ugar has been coming to Kenton since 2010 and will be traveling across the U.S. on this trip with his wife and three children.

Upper Scioto Valley Kindergarten Teacher Angie Marshall welcomes Owen Flory, who will begin school in her class Wednesday. Marshall and Flory met during USV’s open house on Monday.

About 35 Kenton High School soccer alumni came back on Saturday night to play the members of the 2018 Kenton High School soccer team in the annual alumni game. The current group of Wildcats rallied from a 3-1 halftime deficit for a 5-3 victory.

Four Kenton Youth participated in the Dave Staley Adult and Youth Triathlon held on Sunday. The triathlon consisted of a 100 meter swim, a two-mile bike ride and a one mile run.

Mariann and Carl Woodruff of the Blanchard Pleasant Buckeyes had success during the 4-H Natural Resources Day at the Ohio State Fair. Mariann was judged to be in the top 20 percent of those taking Ohio Birds and earned an Outstanding of the Day rosette.

Fifteen scarecrow frames mounted in the backyard of club member Marcia Ridenour greeted the 15 Hardin Northern Garden Club members on a warm afternoon on Aug. 3. The scarecrow frames were constructed by Steve Callinan, husband of club president, Candy Callinan.

Young Maverick LaRue (right), age 1 1/2, was crowned the 2018 Farmers and Merchants Picnic prince, but was less than thrilled with the honor during the opening ceremonies Saturday. He sold 1,246 tickets to win the honor.
