Kenton Elks Lodge 157 recognized Flag Day on June 14 with a public ceremony held in the ballroom of the Lodge. Lodge member and retired Kenton educator, Bob Davis, shared the history of the American flag.

The Boots and Buckles 4-H club members and parents mulched the flower bed that the club adopted and takes care of at the Hardin County Fairgrounds following a brief meeting Monday.

The Hardin County Players Children’s Summer Theater Workshop will present Shrek the Musical Jr. on Friday and Saturday at the Kenton Middle School auditorium. Show time is 7 p.m. both nights. General admission is $7, with senior citizens paying $5. Tickets will be available at the door.

The 2018 Tree Town Festival, to be held July 6, 7 and 8 in Gormley Park, Forest, has announced the event’s royalty candidates. This year’s festival will include one queen, one king, one princess, one prince and four baby candidates.

On June 15, President Sandra Moore of the Hardin County Retired Teachers Association welcomed 18 members and guests Rachel Wright and Brooke Bahr to the Plaza Inn at noon. Hostesses were Sandra Moore, Joan Sullinger, Jean Kearns, and Billie Thompson who were thanked for the wonderful arrangements. Melanie Kindell offered grace.

ADA — A group of local historians are hoping to tap into the rich history of the Ada community and find a house for some of the relics. Ada Public Library Director Rhett Grant was conducting research at the library last summer for a program he was to deliver on the library’s history.
