Hardin County Business and Professional Women’s Club met on June 13 at 5:15 p.m. Six members carpooled to Marion to have Ladies’ Night Out at The Warehouse Restaurant.

The temperature snuck above 90 degrees Monday in Hardin County and brought a crowd of people to seek shelter from the heat at the Kenton Municipal Pool. Showers today and Wednesday are expected to bring the mercury down to a more comfortable level for the rest of this week.

The team from the Kenton Moose Lodge won the championship of the first Terry Devore Memorial Tournament at Kenton’s Waterworks Park. The tournament began Friday evening and wrapped up Saturday evening.

From a young age, Branden Shape knew he wanted to set roots in Kenton and do something to help the community thrive. Branden has been busy doing just that through serving as manager at Ace Hardware for 10 years, helping take care of 16 rental properties in town and organizing and running the Kenton Adult Softball League.

A large crowd played on a slight breeze Saturday afternoon with kites, bubbles and parachutes at the second annual Go Fly A Kite Day at the YMCA Corner Kick Soccer Complex south of Kenton. At its peak, the skies over the field were teaming with large kites in the shape of a scuba diver with a shark in close pursuit, a menacing octopus and stunt kites souring in formations.

The host Kenton A team won the varsity division of the Kenton Cup 7 on 7 soccer tournament this past weekend. The Wildcats went 6-0 on the day in the 20 team tournament, defeating St. Marys 5-2 in the finals.

No Limits Hair and Tannery, located at 214 N. Detroit St. in Kenton, is holding its remodeled grand opening June 18-23 featuring refreshments and door prizes. No Limits, owned by Deloris Delong, has been a family-operated salon since 1992.
