The second farm White Sox defeated the Padres 12-1 on Haushalter Field Wednesday night. Weston Haudenschield homered two times and added four RBIs to lead the White Sox. Xavier Gammon went 3-3 as well. Also chipping in hits for the White Sox were Braidyn VanMeter, Clay Furr, Gavin Sealscott, Kayne Bushong, Peyton Pogue, Tristan Hale, Cody Butler and Carson Cross.

The Lady Wildcats had four girls play in the Western Buckeye League All-Star Softball Game representing the East Squad, including senior Molly Pees, senior Jenna Clum, junior Faith Purtee and junior Alivia Purtee. The East Squad won the game 4-2. Pees was 1-1 with a walk and an RBI single, Clum was 1-2 with a single and a run scored, and Alivia Purtee was 1-2 with a single as well.

The Ohio State Alumni Club of Hardin County recognized students who received scholarships through the organization during its annual dinner on Wednesday night in Kenton.

UPPER SANDUSKY — Kameron Hall of Harding and Mallory Graham of Mt. Gilead tied for first place at the Heart of Ohio Junior Golf Association's first tournament of the season held at Lincoln Hills on Tuesday. Playing in the 18-hole round from the blue tees, the 16-18 pair each shot 80. Hall won the one-hole playoff with a par.

FINDLAY — Kenton Elks Lodge 157 was well represented in seven of eight competition brackets at the Northwest District Elks Soccer Shoot held in Findlay on June 2. Taking second place in their respective ages were: Lucas Bayes (U8 Boys), Owen Haudenschield (U10 Boys), Ellie Minter (U10 Girls), Austin Gerlach (U12 Boys) and Wyatt Gerlach (U14 Boys). Coming in third place were Avery Haudenschield (U8 Girls) and Ruby Styer (U12 Girls).

Hardin Leadership, Inc., of Kenton, received an award for Embracing a Strengths-Based Culture. The Outstanding Achievement and Excellence recognition was presented by Alber Enterprise Center at The Ohio State University at Marion.
