The Trophy Bassmasters had to make a last minute switch of venues this past weekend. Heavy rains last week raised the water level at the scheduled site of Delaware Reservoir north of Columbus to 9 feet above normal summer lake levels.

The Kenton High School class of 1945 met at Henry’s Restaurant on July 15 to celebrate its 72nd year since graduating. There were eight class members and four guests in attendance.

ADA — The Village of Ada is looking into the possibility of using assessments on Willeke Avenue to help with the funding for the street project coming up next year. During a Utilities Committee meeting following the regular council meeting on Tuesday, Village Administrator Jamie Hall discussed with council Ada’s debt outlook with the planned and proposed street projects.

A gift from a classmate allowed the Kenton High School Class of 1977 to made a generous donation to Not By Choice. Bobbi Needham Tandon sent a drawing to her classmates which she created in 1978 while a student at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.

Last year, there were 10 people who died of opioids overdoses in Hardin County, according to Sheriff Keith Everhart. This year there have been a total of 29 overdoses reported and seven deaths through the first six months of 2017. The Kenton-Hardin Health Department is partnering with the Hardin County Prosecutor’s Office, the sheriff’s office, Hardin Memorial Hospital and the Hardin County Coroner’s Office in a program to reduce the growing numbers.

The Boots and Buckles 4-H group met on Monday, July 10 at Jared McNeely's house at 6:30 p.m. The meeting started off with Hardin County Sheriff’s Deputy Christina Henderson demonstrating different self defense methods.
