It bears the name of her daughter, who at age 20 after being in an abusive relationship on-and-off for two years, was murdered by her boyfriend nearly 10 years ago.

With daughter Sydney headed to play basketball at Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan, next year, Holderman no longer was going to have the time to be both the coach and mother she wanted to be.

The leader of economic development in Hardin County hopes to take that experience to the Ohio Statehouse. Jon Cross, president/CEO and economic development director of the Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance, announced today his plans to run for state representative of the 83rd Ohio House District in the Republican primary in 2018. The district includes Hancock County, Hardin County and a portion of Logan County.

The 42nd Hillcrest Men’s Jay Albert Memorial Invitational Tournament had a first-time winner on Sunday when Jason Howe defeated Nick Zachariah 245-166 in the last match of the finals to claim the top trophy at Hillcrest Lanes. Howe, who entered the final day of play as the top seed, needed to win just one match of the step ladder final to claim the tournament. In addition to the trophy, he won $400, a jacket, a shirt and his entry fee for the 2018 tournament.
