ADA — Last season, Ada won its first Northwest Conference volleyball championship since 1986. Now, the 2016 Bulldogs are one win away from a second straight league crown after overcoming a slow start to defeat Lincolnview 18-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-13 to improve to 7-0 in NWC play.

Riverdale’s Antonio Renteria was third to lead area individual runners and the host Wildcats were third of eight teams in the standings at the Kyle Althauser Memorial Invitational cross country meet at the Hardin County Fairgrounds Thursday afternoon.

As a volunteer at the Helping Hands Outreach in Kenton, Mary Roby heard many stories regarding the financial needs of the elderly in Kenton and throughout Hardin County.

FOREST — Emergency medical technicians with the Jackson-Forest Ambulance District have a new tool to help people suffering heart attacks. They received training Wednesday night on the Lucas 2 CPR compression device from Bob Dempsey, account representative with Physio Control.

The Society Singers will present their 40th anniversary show, “The Times of Our Lives,” on Saturday and Sunday at the Kenton Middle School auditorium. Show times will be 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 for adults. Students are admitted free of charge.
