Judge Randall Basinger fell in love with the law at an early age. He is hoping voters will elect the 28-year Putnam County judge to a seat on the bench of the Third District Court of Appeals this fall.

Having practiced law as an attorney for 37 years, Scott Barrett is now in his third year as Hardin County Common Pleas Court judge and thinks it’s a great way to end his law career.

President Jeff Schulman called the July 26 meeting of the Ada Kiwanis Club to order at noon in the Dean’s Heritage Room, McIntosh Center, Ohio Northern University in Ada. Jun Tsukmato, a guest of Joe Ferguson, was welcomed to the meeting.

Giovanni Olivieri, 7, is all smiles as he prepares to have the mud washed off his face following a dive into the mud pit at the Abundant Life Church in Kenton. Giovanni is one of 225 young people taking part in the church’s summer camp, which began Thursday and continues through Sunday.

The residents of Blanchard Place were given a special program Friday afternoon when ballerina Hannah Honea performed a special number for them. Honea is a featured dancer with the Brierwood Ballet in Birmingham, Alabama and she, with her family, returned to Kenton in order for the young woman to perform for her grandmother, Sara Oates (at center in pink) and her friends.

Tumbling galore happened at the Wild and Wonderful Wednesday camp session at the Hardin County Family YMCA on July 27. The campers joined in with Hardin Heat, the Y's cheer team, to learn a little about tumbling and gymnastics.

The Ada High School marching band and color guard practices its show for the fall football and competition season during band camp Thursday morning. The show, “To Infinity and Beyond” will feature the music from “Toy Story,” including an original composition “I Believe,” Frank Sinatra’s “Come Fly With Me” and “You’ve Got a Friend In Me” by Randy Newman.
