The Silver Creek Center for Environmental Studies provided educational opportunities for area school age youth on a regular from 1986-2001. Due to budget reductions over the years, the center’s operator, the Hardin Soil and Water Conservation District district, was forced to eliminate an educational specialist and the programs fell by the wayside in the early 2000s.

Willy Wonka Kids, a production of the Hardin County Players' Children's Summer Theatre Workshop, will be presented Friday and Saturday nights at the Kenton Middle School auditorium. Show time is 7:30 p.m. both days. Tickets, $7 for adults and $5 for senior citizens, will be available at the auditorium. Students are admitted free.

The Kenton Lions club met Wednesday, June 15 at Sulphur Lake Campground at 6 p.m. Fourteen members and five guests were in attendance. Lion President Dean Tackett led in the Pledge and the prayer and the meeting was called to order after the meal at 7 p.m.

Jordy Martin can’t get enough soccer. That wasn’t always the case for the Kenton High School assistant soccer coach. Martin admitted when he entered KHS as a student he saw soccer more as a means to an end.
