Donald and Connie (Oestreich) Fleming of Ada are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. The couple were married on June 19, 1976 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Gibsonburg by Rev. Rozell W. Sattler.

With the help of professional juggler Matt Jergens, Emma Staples balances four plates and a beach ball all at once. The feat was a part of Jergens’ act during the summer reading program Tuesday at the Hardin Northern Public Library in Dunkirk.

Members of the Salvation Army board will be conducting their regular meetings every other month at restaurants in the county. The change of location will allow the board an opportunity to discuss the needs of the local community, said member Robin Oates.

A group of local businesses and agencies worked together to help the troops in Afghanistan. Harco Industries was assisted by individuals and staff members at the Hardin County Dairy Club, Amvets Post 1994, Sons of Amvets auxiliary members, Ace Hardware and Ladies of St. John’s.

It’s a story former Kenton High School athletic director and football coach Mike Mauk hoped would never have to be written about him. But after years of defeating opponents on the football field – first in Ohio for more than 30 years and at Glendale High School in Springfield, Missouri, the past two years – Mauk recently earned perhaps his greatest victory.

In the two months the officers in the Kenton Police Department have been wearing body cameras, Chief Dennis Musser said they have been a sound investment. The decision to purchase the individual cameras was partially a financial consideration, said Musser.

Hardin County will have 10 athletes representing it at the State Games for Special Olympics, which take place June 24-26 at Jesse Owens Stadium in Columbus. These athletes will compete in several events including mini javelin, softball throw, 25-meter walk, 50-meter run, 100-meter run, 200-meter run and the 800-meter run.
