Lady Wildcats stave off Arlington, 53-46

Leading the break featured

Leading 19-4 five minutes into their game against a short-handed Arlington squad, it looked like the Kenton girls basketball team might cruise to an easy victory over the host Red Devils on Saturday. A victory proved to be anything but easy to come by as the Red Devils rallied to take a one-point lead twice in the fourth quarter before the Wildcats were able to put the game away at the foul line and pull out a 53-46 victory.

Wildcats push the pace in win over Ada

With Kenton ahead 23-18 after eight minutes, Saturday night’s boys basketball battle between the Wildcats and Ada looked like it could turn into a track meet as both teams struggled early on the defensive end of the floor. The Wildcats wasted little time in changing that however, as they forced the Bulldogs into five turnovers during a 13-0 run to start the second quarter and controlled the game from there on the way to a 73-41 victory over their Hardin County rivals.

Ben Logan holds off Springfield Northwestern

SPRINGFIELD — Ben Logan held off Springfield Northwestern’s fourth quarter rally to pull out a 64-61 Central Buckeye Conference boys basketball victory on Saturday night. Leading 19-15 after eight minutes, the Raiders pushed their lead to 35-17 by halftime and 46-29 after three quarters before Northwestern outscored them 32-18 over the final eight minutes.

Allen East cruises past Hardin Northern, 67-35

DOLA — Allen East took control early, outscoring Hardin Northern by 31 points in the first half on the way to a 67-35 non-league boys basketball victory on Saturday. The visiting Mustangs led 21-9 after eight minutes before outscoring the Polar Bears 22-3 in the second quarter to extend the advantage to 43-12 at halftime
