KHS 9th at WBL swimming

DEFIANCE — The Western Buckeye League swimming championships wrapped up on Saturday with the Kenton boys and girls teams finishing ninth and tenth out of 10 teams, respectively. The boys earned a total of 45 points for their ninth place finish.

Fast start propels Arcadia to win over HN girls

DOLA — Arcadia took control with a 33-point first quarter in cruising to an 80-27 victory over host Hardin Northern in a non-league girls basketball game on Saturday. After jumping ahead 33-6 after one period, the Redskins extended the lead to 45-13 by halftime and 56-21 after three quarters.

McGUFFEY — While Upper Scioto Valley never had a lead over Lima Temple Christian in the second half, it had one when it mattered: At the sound of the final buzzer. That buzzer didn’t come until an extra four minutes of play, with the Rams coming out on top 64-63 in overtime for their ninth-straight win in Friday’s Northwest Central Conference boys basketball game.

Jonathan Alder pulls away from Raiders

PLAIN CITY — Jonathan Alder broke open a tight game in the fourth quarter and pulled away for a 44-29 boys basketball victory on Friday night. Leading by just four points entering the final quarter, Alder outscored the Raiders 18-7 to post the 15-point win.

Strong start carries Paulding past Ada

PAULDING — An early 20-4 hole set the Ada Bulldogs back in the first quarter, and they were never quite able to bounce back, falling to Paulding 63-40 in Friday’s Northwest Conference boys basketball game. The loss drops the Bulldogs to 3-13 overall, 1-3 in the Northwest Conference. Paulding climbs to 6-8, 4-1.
