DEFIANCE — The Western Buckeye League swimming championships wrapped up on Saturday with the Kenton boys and girls teams finishing ninth and tenth out of 10 teams, respectively. The boys earned a total of 45 points for their ninth place finish.

NEW CARLISLE — Host Tecumseh outscored Ben Logan in all four quarters on the way to a 72-59 win over the Raiders in Central Buckeye Conference girls basketball action on Saturday. The Raiders, who had an 11-game winning steak snapped, fall to 13-6 on the season and 7-3 in CBC action.

BLUFFTON — Despite a 26-point night by Lexi Wright, the Riverdale Lady Falcons came up short against Bluffton, taking the 67-48 non-conference loss on Saturday. The Falcons fall to 9-8 on the season.

DOLA — Arcadia took control with a 33-point first quarter in cruising to an 80-27 victory over host Hardin Northern in a non-league girls basketball game on Saturday. After jumping ahead 33-6 after one period, the Redskins extended the lead to 45-13 by halftime and 56-21 after three quarters.

WAPAKONETA — The Kenton Youth Wrestling Team traveled to Wapakoneta on Sunday for its sixth meet of the season. Kenton had 31 wrestlers compete at the meet with nine placing first, 10 finishing second and six in third place.

Kenton held an eight-point lead against Van Wert early in the fourth quarter of the Western Buckeye League boys basketball battle on Friday night. The Wildcats could not hold off the Cougars, however, as Van Wert battled back to pull out a 55-53 overtime win.

McGUFFEY — While Upper Scioto Valley never had a lead over Lima Temple Christian in the second half, it had one when it mattered: At the sound of the final buzzer. That buzzer didn’t come until an extra four minutes of play, with the Rams coming out on top 64-63 in overtime for their ninth-straight win in Friday’s Northwest Central Conference boys basketball game.

VANLUE — For the second straight week, the Riverdale boys basketball team used a huge quarter to propel itself to victory. The Falcons began the fourth quarter on a 19-0 run Friday at Vanlue High School to erase a 7-point deficit and defeat Vanlue 76-64.

PLAIN CITY — Jonathan Alder broke open a tight game in the fourth quarter and pulled away for a 44-29 boys basketball victory on Friday night. Leading by just four points entering the final quarter, Alder outscored the Raiders 18-7 to post the 15-point win.

PAULDING — An early 20-4 hole set the Ada Bulldogs back in the first quarter, and they were never quite able to bounce back, falling to Paulding 63-40 in Friday’s Northwest Conference boys basketball game. The loss drops the Bulldogs to 3-13 overall, 1-3 in the Northwest Conference. Paulding climbs to 6-8, 4-1.
