TOLEDO — Two of Riverdale’s three district qualifiers picked up two tournament wins, and all three will be back for next season. The Falcons were led by junior Wayne Frey’s sixth-place finish at 145 pounds on Saturday in the Division III tournament at Waite.

WAPAKONETA — After starting the game on a 10-4 run and trailing Minster by just four at halftime, the Upper Scioto Valley girls basketball team was outscored 43-26 in the second half of a Division IV district final on Saturday.

Ada junior Chase Sumner will be returning to the Division III state wrestling tournament this week. After going 1-1 on the first day of district competition on Friday, the Bulldog 138-pounder won four matches on Saturday to finish third at the Troy district tournament.

The Benjamin Logan varsity cheerleaders placed 2nd in Ohio in Division III on Sunday. The competition was held at St John’s Arena at Ohio State University.

MANSFIELD — After splitting two matches on the first day of the Division II District wrestling meet at Mansfield High School, Kenton freshmen Noah Eikenbary was unable wrestle his way back into the top four on the second day Saturday.

LIMA — Trailing by nine points midway through the third quarter, Kenton looked to be on the verge of falling away during its sectional final basketball contest with Upper Sandusky. The Wildcats, who led by one point at halftime regained their footing, however, and pulled within a single point several times late in the game, before the No. 2 seeded Rams were able to hang on for a 68-67 victory at Lima Senior on Friday night.

HARROD — Ridgemont boys basketball coach Nick Stuck said his team knew Perry’s plan of attack would be to bring on the defensive pressure early and often in Friday’s Division IV sectional final contest. Even so, the No. 10-seed Gophers didn’t respond well to the press and surrendered a 22-0 run to the top-seeded Commodores (20-3) right off the bat on their way to an 80-31 defeat and ending their season at 6-19.

TROY — After winning his first match in a 46-second pin of Logan White of Twin Valley South, Ada wrestler Chase Sumner lost a 5-3 decision to Kamron Paulus of Milton-Union in the quarterfinal round of the Division III district competition in Troy on Friday.

ADA — No. 5-ranked Ohio Northern defeated Lakeland (Wis.) 68-36 in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's basketball Tournament on Friday night at the ONU Sports Center. The Polar Bears improve to 28-0, while the Muskies end their season at 20-8.

COLDWATER — St. Henry outscored Upper Scioto Valley 18-2 in the first quarter and was able to hold off the Rams the rest of the way for a 64-52 Division IV sectional victory at Coldwater High School. The Redskins led 30-13 at halftime and 39-25 after three quarters before being outscored 26-25 by the Rams in the final eight minutes.
