ELIDA — After falling behind 10-3 in the first set against Buckeye Central on Thursday night, the Ada Bulldogs volleyball team regrouped following a timeout and ended up taking the set 26-24. But the Division IV regional semifinal contest momentum then swung to Buckeye Central which forced the Bulldogs into an off-balance serve receive.

The Trophy Bassmasters finished off their season at Lake Erie recently with their annual year end Club Classic. This year was a two-day event and John Clark wrapped a bow around his magical season as he once again finished in the top spot.

When Ada and Liberty-Benton square off in their Division VI Region 22 quarterfinal football playoff matchup on Friday night, it will be a a game featuring two teams happy to be playing in week 11 this year. That’s because Liberty-Benton (9-1 and co-champions of the Blanchard Valley Conference) is making its first playoff appearance since the 2014 season; while Ada (7-3) needed help from some of its friends in the final week of the regular season to squeak into the playoff mix.

Ada senior Chase Sumner was voted as the Northwest Conference defensive player of the year to lead the list of Bulldogs receiving All-NWC honors on the teams released Wednesday.

ADA — When the state volleyball tournament began two weeks ago, despite winning a third straight Northwest Conference crown, the members of the Ada volleyball team weren’t thinking of district, regional or state crowns. The Bulldogs had one goal in mind - beating Leipsic and making it to the district finals.

The Trophy Bassmasters competed in their 15th and final club tournament of the season recently at Lake Erie. There was little left to decide as John Clark had the Angler of the Year title sewed up several tournaments ago and James Kain had a firm hold on Big Bass of the Year with his 6.22-pound largemouth at Knox Lake in June.
