1987 WBL champs recognized

The 30th anniversary of Kenton High School’s 1987 football team that won the Western Buckeye League football championship was celebrated during the current Wildcats 27-7 home victory over Defiance on Friday. Members of the team in attendance at the game that were recognized included (from left) Scott Hites, Vaughn Rall, Chad Treen, Shawn Trent, Scott Emans, Doug Carmean, Richard Williams, Jeff Davis and assistant coach Doug Roberts.

Kenoyer paces BL golfers in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD — The Ben Logan boys golf team placed 7th of 18 teams with a team score of 353 in the David Christoph Invitational held at Reid Park on Saturday. Dublin Jerome won with a 320, followed by Xavier 334, Troy 337, Oakwood 340, Beavercreek and Springfield 348.

Wildcats’ defense finishes the job against Defiance

Kenton used a fast start to gain the upper hand and then used an opportunistic defense to finish off Defiance in a 27-7 Western Buckeye League football victory at Robinson Field on Friday. The Wildcats got two touchdown passes from Jaron Sharp to Landon Rush in the first five minutes of the game and the junior added scoring runs of 3 and 1 yards as Kenton moves to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in WBL play with the win.

McGUFFEY — An Upper Scioto Valley miscue on the opening kickoff set the tone for the remainder of the game against Benjamin Logan, with the Raiders pulling off a “scoop-and-score” to go up early. The visiting Raiders cruised their way to a 42-19 non-conference football win on Friday night, improving their record to 2-1, coming off a loss last week against West Liberty-Salem.

North Baltimore wins shootout with R’dale

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Friday’s football contest between Riverdale and North Baltimore proved to be an offensive shootout, with the Falcons falling just short of the comeback, 47-44. The non-conference loss is the first for the Falcons on the season, putting them at 2-1. The Tigers hold the same record following the win.

LOCATION — After recovering from a slow first-quarter start against Lima Central Catholic, Ada was outscored 20-8 in the fourth, falling to the Thunderbirds 41-21. The loss was Ada’s first of the season, putting them at 2-1. With the win, the Thunderbirds also sit at 2-1.
