KHS boys blast Defiance, 5-0

On a rush

The Kenton boys soccer team showed its killer instinct Thursday night in its 5-0 Western Buckeye League victory over Defiance. Leading by two goals at halftime, the Wildcats wanted to make sure to put the game away early in the second half and not allow the visiting Bulldogs an opportunity to get back into the game.

Raiders spike Urbana

URBANA — The Benjamin Logan volleyball team swept host Urbana 25-17, 25-19 and 25-20 on Thursday night. The Raiders, who were paced by Stanleigh Archer’s 12 kills, 3 blocks, 3 aces and 7 digs, move to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in Central Buckeye Conference action.

Falcons score early, often against Ada

ADA — Gabi Rodriguez had three goals and two assists and Kelsey Corbin and Katie Benitez added two tallies each as Riverdale ran past Ada 11-0 in North Central Ohio girls soccer action on Wednesday. The Falcons, who improve to 4-1-1 on the season and 2-0 in NCOSA play, scored six goals in the first half, including two each by Rodriguez and Corbin.

Wildcats, Defiance searching for a ‘W’

Kenton and Defiance both are searching for their first win of 2017 when the Bulldogs travel to Robinson Field for a Western Buckeye League gridiron battle at 7:30 p.m. Friday night. Kenton coach Brent Fackler said the Wildcats are excited to finally get a chance to play in front of their home crowd after having to travel more than an hour the first two weeks of the season.

Rams, Raiders set for gridiron battle

After a difficult matchup against Ada in week one, Upper Scioto Valley got into the win column with a dominating performance on both sides of the ball against Cory-Rawson in week two. The challenge becomes more difficult once again on Friday night as the Rams host a Ben Logan team coming off the school’s first ever playoff appearance and with high expectations again this season.
