Calvary Christian bests Gophers on golf course

BELLEFONTAINE — Calvary Christian defeated Ridgemont 230-297 in a non-league golf match at Cherokee Hills on Monday afternoon. Danielle Mouser shot a 69 over nine holes to lead the Gophers. Collin Wallace added a 71. Calvary Christian’s Riley Wilcoxon shot a 41 to take medalist honors.  

Raider frosh top Gophers

BELLEFONTAINE — The Benjamin Logan freshman volleyball team picked up 25-11, 25-8 win over Ridgemont on Monday night. Leading the Raiders were Sidney Puckett with 7 kills, 5 digs and 2 aces, while Corinne Herring added 9 assists and 12 aces on 29 of 30 serving.

Arcadia rallies past Polar Bears

DOLA — The Hardin Northern volleyball team couldn’t finish off Arcadia in its season-opener on Monday night. The Polar Bears cruised through the first two sets and appeared to have set three well in hand before the visiting Redskins rallied from an eight-point deficit to win the third set and grab the momentum on the way to a 14-25, 17-25, 27-25, 25-20, 15-12 non-league win.

KHS tennis loses tight WBL match to Bath

LIMA — Three of Kenton’s tennis matches against Bath went to three sets and in a fourth match both sets were decided on tiebreakers Monday afternoon. However, the visiting Lady Wildcats were not able to pick up a victory in any of the four matches as they lost to Bath 4-1 in a WBL contest.

St. Henry tops Bulldogs

ADA — St. Henry defeated Ada 25-13, 25-19, 25-21 in a non-league volleyball match on Monday night. Melina Woods had a strong match for the Bulldogs, recording 16 kills offensively and coming up with 17 digs in the back row.

Redskins spike USV

WAPAKONETA — Wapakoneta cruised past Upper Scioto Valley in three games 25-11, 26-24, 25-12 in a non-league volleyball match on Monday night. Callie Daniels led the way for the Rams with 6 kills, while Miranda Holbrook added 5 kills and Megan Carey had 3 kills and a stuff block.

Ada shuts out Miller City

MILLER CITY — Logan Williams netted two goals as Ada defeated Miller City 3-0 in the Bulldogs’ season-opening soccer match on Monday. Jonathan Rettig added a goal for Ada and Ace Gamble had 8 saves.
