Bulldogs’ Beaschler looking for return trip to state tennis tourney

Ready for districts

ADA — Ada junior Zach Beaschler has had one goal on his mind since qualifying for the Division II state tennis tournament last spring – making it back to the state tournament in Mason this spring. The Ada junior has the chance to reach that goal Thursday when he and teammate Cade Mullins compete in singles play at the Division II district tournament at Bowling Green State University.

KMS boys soccer meeting Wednesday

A informational meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at by the practice soccer field for any Kenton Middle School seventh or eighth grade boy interested in playing soccer this fall. Items to be discussed include the upcoming season, practices, games, uniforms and other items.

Little league: May 16, 2017

The second farm Dodgers beat the White Sox 3-2 in Kenton Little League action on Saturday. Hitters for the Dodgers included Amiel Huff with a home run and a double, Paxton Rhodes with a double and a single, Jesse Shoop with two singles.

Raiders boys, girls first at CBC track meet

NEW CARLISLE — Stevie Plikerd had three first place finishes to lead the Ben Logan girls track team to a third consecutive Central Buckeye Conference Mad River Division Championship on Friday night. Plikerd was first in the long jump (15-8), the 100 dash (13.21 seconds) and the 200 dash (27.45 seconds) as the Raiders finished with 133 points.

Falcons strong in relays, run to third at BVC meet

FINDLAY — The Riverdale boys were first in both the 3,200 and 1,600 relays on the way to a third place finish in the team standings at the Blanchard Valley Conference Track and Field Meet on Friday. In the 3,200 relay, the quartet of Kyle Evans, Ben Gannon, Justin Scott and Josh Hunter crossed the finish line in 8:39.13, while in the 1,600 relay the same foursome had the top time of 3:32.71.

KHS doubles pair ends up fourth at sectional

LIMA — Kenton’s doubles pairing of Kyle Goodin and Kenji Kobayashi dropped both of their matches on Saturday to finish fourth at the Division II sectional tennis tournament at the University of Northwest Ohio. The Wildcat duo was defeated by the Shawnee pair of Michael Rutter and Isaac Hanover 6-3, 6-0 in the semifinals before falling to the Indians pairing of Max Jones and Danny Kesner 6-2, 6-4.
