McGUFFEY — Upper Scioto Valley coach Mike Risner stresses to his players the importance of attacking the basket in hopes of either getting an easy bucket or the chance of getting to the free-throw line for two shots.

TRANSYLVANIA, Ky. — Devon Allen scored a game-high 27 points to lead Ohio Northern men's basketball team to a 105-74 victory over Lynchburg (Va.) on the first day of the Don Lane Classic Tuesday evening.

ADA — The Ada girls basketball team outscored Van Buren 13-7 in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 52-46 non-conference win on Tuesday.

Makeup dates have been announced for both the Kenton vs. Riverdale boys and girls basketball games that were postponed by the icy weather over the weekend. The boys game will be played on Jan. 24 at KHS, while the girls game will be Feb. 7 at Riverdale. The junior varsity contest will begin at 6 p.m. both nights.  

WAYNESFIELD — Waynesfield-Goshen is in need of a head varsity baseball coach. Interested applicants should send a letter of interest and resumé to Athletic Director Brett Purcell by email at purcellb@wgschools.org. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.          

The boys basketball game that was to be played between Kenton and Riverdale on Monday night was postponed due to icy road conditions. A make-up date has yet to be determined. The game originally was scheduled to be played Saturday before being canceled because of icy roads.

ADA — Due to injuries and low numbers the junior varsity girls basketball game between Ada and Van Buren scheduled for tonight will be played only for two quarters. Tip-off will remain at 6 p.m. and the varsity game will begin 20 minutes after the conclusion of the JV game.

RIDGEWAY — Ridgemont will be honoring the 1961 Mount Victory Green Devils basketball team between the varsity and junior varsity contests of the Gophers home matchup against Parkway on Friday night.

LEXINGTON, Va. — The Ohio Northern wrestling team posted a perfect 3-0 record as it competed at the Washington & Lee Duals in Lexington, Va., on Monday. The Polar Bears move to 4-0 on the season.

The Kenton High School boys basketball home game against Riverdale that was postponed on Saturday night due to icy road conditions has been rescheduled for tonight. The junior varsity contest will begin at 6 p.m.
