LEIPSIC — Riverdale scored the first five runs Wednesday and held on to defeat Leipsic 6-3 in Blanchard Valley Conference softball.

NEW CARLISLE — After the first day of the Central Buckeye Conference track and field meet Tuesday, Ben Logan is in pretty good shape. The Raider girls are in third place overall and second in the Mad River Division with 17 points.

The Major League Indians defeated the Mariners 10-1 on Monday night. Gunnar Stout hit a double and two singles to lead the Indians.

DUNKIRK — Nothing seemed to go quite right for Hardin Northern in its Division IV softball playoff loss to Arcadia on Monday. Defensive miscues and an inability to capitalize on offensive situations kept the Polar Bears from making a real push against Arcadia as they took a 6-1 loss, ending their postseason.

The Kenton girls track and field team placed third Monday at the junior varsity Western Buckeye League meet. The Wildcats scored 59 points, four behind Defiance and five ahead of Van Wert.

LIMA — Lima Central Catholic scored five runs in the first inning and went on to defeat Ada 10-0 in five innings in nonconference baseball Monday. The Bulldogs committed five errors, which LCC coupled with five hits to score its 10 runs.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Kenton boys and girls track and field teams both won the junior high Hardin County Meet Monday. The Wildcat girls finished with 127.5 points, 12.5 more than Riverdale.

ONTARIO — It was a bottom of the first inning that Kenton would prefer to forget Saturday afternoon in the Wildcats’ playoff opener. Six of the first Ontario batters who came to the plate walked as the Warriors scored seven first-inning runs on their way to a 10-2 win over the Wildcats.

DOLA — Hardin Northern fell behind 8-0 early and couldn’t recover Saturday as the Polar Bears lost 13-6 to Pandora-Gilboa in a Division IV baseball playoff contest. The Rockets scored four runs in the top of the first and added four more in the second for the big early lead.
